Antico Pizza, in West Midtown is a staple of the ATL food scene. Yes there are other pizza places with delicious pizza, but Antico is the original spot for some of the best pizza in the city. There is street parking, parking in the back and parking in a side lot by the gelateria dubbed "Little Italy".
The dining process has largely remained the same over the year, come on in (BYOB if desired), order a pizza and find some seats. Self seating can be overwhelming for some, but a solid backup is to head across the street to eat outside at the gelato shop (even better on nice days). Seating inside is basically IN the kitchen, which is super cool, but also can get super loud a peak times. TIP: before your pizza arrives, grab some parmesan, spicy peppers, garlic and olive oil by the pizza prep area.
FOOD TIME. When each order is ready someone walks around shouting the order number, so keep a watch for yours. Usually the wait is really short as these pizzas cook super fast in the massive pizza ovens.
Antico pizza is a magical combination of crispy outer crust and chewy inner dough. The consistency of the dough is PERFECT! I like my crust almost burnt, which is how Antico cooks their pizza. Grab some forks and knives, it's ok to use these as it can get quite messy otherwise.
I started off ordered the Diavola (because I love spicy), but switched my allegiance to the San Gennaro, which has meatballs and sweet peppers. I always grab some peppers from the back (same peppers that come on the Diavola), so you can make any pizza spicy! I have tried pretty much every pizza on the menu and you really can't go wrong here.
Cons: It can get a bit loud at peak times and it can get a bit crowed as well. It's nice that you can BYOB, but often we feel a bit rushed to get out because there are so many people waiting to snag some seats. I recommend trying Antico on a weekday evening instead of weekend for a calmer experience or ask them to bring it to you across the street at "Little Italy". -

Been wanting to try this place since 2014!! Moved away 5 years ago...but came back to ATL on Pride weekend 2019.
The place doesnt look like much...dont be fooled! Very simple decor, menu, but amazing pizza wuth super fresh flavors! Strong itlalian style ingredients and atomosphere. Pizza's avg $24 per pie, and its enough for 3 hungry people.
Super casual enviroment!
I suggest eating inside in the back where the cooks/ovens are located. Adds to the ambiance/italian feel. -

His: Oh my days! Pizza was super good. The ingredients by themselves were very good and high quality so put them all together...you get a great pizza. For me, the key for this amazing taste was the dough and how it was cooked. They nailed the cooking time and it's over a fire oven. Service was great!
Hers: Hands down the best pizza I've had! We ordered the San Gennaro pizza and it was FANTASTIC! The quality of ingredients are very fresh, especially the cheese they use! The pizza wasn't oily at all and they had various additional toppings to put on top. The place has a cozy hole in the wall feeling. You can sit across the kitchen area and watch your pizza be made right in front of you! Can't say enough good things about this pizza, highly recommend people to come here!
Would we come back?
His: For sure!
Hers: Come twice if you can! It's that good! -

Sadly Disappointed.. Really wanted to like this place .. wanted to try something different for sister and my mom it was my sisters b day and wanted To do something low key. This was the first place that came to Mind ... pizza was extremely soggy.. we ordered a large margarita.. needed to cooked like 10 mins more to be well.. dough was super doughy .. was weird... when an employee came over to drop
Off the pizza he placed the tray down he knocked over my cup of Pellegrino on me .. no apology.. just picked up the cup and moved on.. glad it wasn't my red wine .. so yea customer service sucks.. calzone and sauce were good tho. -

The pizza here is so good, I can't stop eating even when I'm full. I've been here a few times now dining in and taking it to go, and every experience has been great.
It is SO hot inside in the summer months I wish they would turn on some air... I was sweating profusely inside. They don't have plates, so prepare to eat off the tray you're sharing or a napkin. They have all the condiments out in one spot so you can help yourself to everything.
It's BYOB and no corkage fee, so bring a bottle of wine and prepare to eat some amazing pizza.
